Conducting a sensitization and awareness session specially for children and young adults about personal safety and awareness. It is an open discussion about our mindsets, bodies, preferences, choices and differences. The aim of this discussion is to converse openly, without hesitation and/or judgement - the somewhat hidden variables that play huge roles in our day to day lives. Personal safety, bias and discrimination, defining our own lives, healthy ambition and self awareness are going to be key factors in this discussion. Whether you're a teenager with a million questions about yourself, or a 27 year old (equally confused, yet) focussed on the next phase of your life, or a parent (who says the confusion goes away?) who wants to help their children stay aware of themselves and the world around them ~ you're most welcome. Brought to you by Mihira Appnender, (https://in.linkedin.com/in/arihim) a facilitator of Sensitization & Awareness sessions usually catering to children, teenagers and young adults. This session is open to anyone 15 years and above. Entry - Free

Having recently ventured into the field of education, I focus on discussions (titled Sensitization & Awareness Sessions) about the human mind, body and interactions. The sessions are usually for children of differing age groups, discussing concepts like personal safety, discrimination and bullying, health and fitness, individuality and peer influence, gender & sexuality, relationships, substance use & abuse, sex and unwanted sexual advances. Before addressing children in a school construct, a session with the parents & teachers is also conducted. My hope and aim is to spread awareness about the need for discussion about all of these topics, whether it’s between parent/guardian/teacher/counselor & child, or amongst peers. Currently working on implementing an S&A program at Nirmala High School in Lakdikapool in the coming academic year, I hope to reach out to many more schools for the same. In early March 2015, I conducted a session for 8th graders in Oakridge International School in Nanakramguda as part of their Social Awareness Week. I have successfully completed 2 training courses (Course 1: Demystifying Sexuality, Course 2: Facilitator Training) with Enfold Trust (Bangalore) that qualifies me to be a Facilitator in this field.
