According to the latest news, the Telangana State Government has signed an MoU with Uber to set up Uber's largest data centre outside the United States in Hyderabad. As per the MoU, Uber will invest $50 million over the next three years in Hyderabad and undertake projects in collaboration with the Telangana State Government. This agreement promises to bring jobs, skills and technologies to the city. Lamakaan - An Open Cultural Space and Hyderabad Urban Lab , A multi Disciplinary Urban Research initiative specializing in bring to you an open discussion between Biju Mathew, author of Taxi: Cabs and Capitalism in New York and Anant Maringanti, Executive Director of Hyderabad Urban Lab. Biju Mathew teaches information systems and history of science and technology and has studied technology led business transformations in the taxi industry in the US from the point of view of taxi workers rights. Biju Mathew brings 20 years of experience as Taxi workers organizer with New York Taxi Workers Alliance to reflect on challenges of regulating technology led businesses particularly in the transportation sector.
