The melodies of monsoon

We will celebrate monsoon with ragas and its semi classical forms. Season has always been playing roles to associate with particular emotions in Indian classical music. Amongst them monsoon has typically correlated with love and lorn. We will present some ragas which has been profusely used demonstrating monsoon and we will show the melody of those ragas on their semiclassical forms.

Barnali Bhattacharya and Satarupa Roy Kar
Barnali Bhattacharya is a trained Hindustani classical vocalist. She has been performing kheyal, thumri, kajri, dhrupad and various forms of pure classical music from several years. At Lamakaan her performances were- "22 se Shrabon", "Basanto utsab", "Where classical meets folks" and "Saga of rain". The other organizer Satarupa Roy Kar is a versatile singer with capability of singing in different genre. She learnt Hindustani classical music and light music from her childhood and has been performing as well. Her previous Lamakaan performance was "Rediscovering Tagore through his letters".
