This field trip is especially close to my heart. It’s an opportunity to help our children fall in love with stories — not just as words on a page, but as living, breathing experiences that unfold through books, cinema, and art. We want them to see that stories are more than lessons; they are journeys that connect imagination, emotion, and creativity.

For many of our students, English is still a growing language. Through this trip, I hope to nurture their curiosity and confidence, letting them engage with storytelling in a way that feels natural and exciting. Whether they are listening, reading, or watching, I want them to feel the magic behind every narrative — to cherish the process of storytelling, and be inspired to create and dream.

It’s a step towards building a lifelong love for reading, an appreciation for the classics, and an understanding that stories — in any language or form — have the power to shape hearts and minds.

I am a Teach For India Fellow teaching grades 2, 3, and 4 at Golden Jubilee High School, Tadban. Teach For India is dedicated to creating transformational classrooms—spaces where children are encouraged to explore, grow, and dream beyond traditional boundaries. This upcoming trip to Lamakaan is one such heartfelt attempt, aiming to introduce our students to the enchanting world of storytelling, books, and the arts for the very first time in a vibrant cultural space. For many of our children, this will be their first experience outside the classroom, engaging with culture in such a creative and immersive way. Seeing them step into a place like Lamakaan means so much to us as educators and to them as first-generation learners. It is a chance to nurture a lifelong love for stories, inspire curiosity, and help them believe in the beauty of their own ideas.
