Organization for Nation's Empowerment (ONE) is a non-partisan youth organization working on motivating & empowering youth to play a positive and meaningful role in the society and take leadership in finding solutions to problems around them by engaging with the system in a constructive manner. We have an initiative called IGNITING MINDS which is a public forum where we invite experts on different aspects of government, public policy and administration to address youth and educate them on one of the topics of their expertise. We are doing this so that the we can educate the youth on different aspects of public policy and different perspectives of the same. This, in our opinion, will broaden the contours of debate in the society and enable more people to be active citizens. We had organized discussions on varied topics including economy, electoral reforms, food security, FDI in retail, Telangana, Lok Pal, RTI, RTE etc. We had eminent people come and address on these topics which helped shape the thinking among youth. Some of the guest speakers include Sri. Anjaneaya Reddy (former DGP) who discussed police reforms, Prof. Krishnamurthy Subramanian (Prof at ISB) who discussed the Union Budget, Smt. Karuna Gopal (Foundation for Futuristic Cities) who discussed some aspects of urban planning, Sri Padmanabhaiah (Ex home secretary) who discussed aspects of civil administration, Prof. Madabhushi Shridhar (NALSAR) who spoke about Rule of Law. We have also organized many public campaigns. We were instrumental in organizing the Lokpal movement in Hyderabad last year in April and August. We worked along side United Forum for RTI to protest the appointment of politicians as Information Commissioners. We have done many other RTI based campaigns to enable greater transparency and better governance. You can find more details of our activities at: www.facebook.com/wetheone www.wetheone.org
