FILM SCREENING & DISCUSSION

Democratic Confederalism in Rojava

A Documentary on Grassroots Democracy in Northeast Syria

This 50-minute documentary explores the revolutionary governance model emerging in Rojava (Northeast Syria) where Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians and other communities practice democratic confederalism.

Power is decentralized to neighbourhood communes, enabling direct, consent-based decision making rooted in sociocracy and neighborocracy.

The film highlights how communities organize governance during conflict while emphasizing:

  • Womenโ€™s liberation

  • Ecology and sustainability

  • Grassroots democracy

  • Community self-determination

It offers an insightful look at how local communities transform crisis into experiments in egalitarian governance and international solidarity.
