Resource Person: Akhil Kodamanchili is a professional contemporary guitar player & composer/producer. He holds an advanced diploma in Music & Technology from Selkirk College in Canada. The workshop aims to promote original music through basic song-writing techniques and composition philosophies. No formal music training required! It hopes to debunks the popular notion that creativity is only for the “gifted” and attempts to equip each participant with the ability to create music in their own way. Various exercises, demonstrations and methods will be introduced to the participants that will help them experience the joy of creation irrespective of their instrument. Basic lyric writing will also be discussed. The interactive workshop features a segment of guided composition where participants create a piece of original music as a whole unit applying the concepts from the lectures, demos & exercises. All acoustic instrumentalists welcome! Drummers will have to bring hand percussion or equivalent. Keyboard players are encouraged to bring smaller battery powered units if possible (due to limited plug points at venue & the power outages of the summer season). Instruments will not be provided, however you are welcome and encouraged to create music using any object. Computer based composers are also welcome. Non-musicians are also encouraged!
