He is an assistant professor, at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Kolkata, specializing in the molecular biology of cancer. He has been closely involved in a number of people's movements, such as in Lalgarh and the anti-POSCO movement in Odisha, and more recently in Nonadanga.
