What's it like to be a trivia junkie? 'Furiously Curious' - a film by Sarat Talluri Rao takes you on a unique journey of India - one filled with eccentric passionate individuals. Who are however, driven by a very potent human trait of curiosity. There's the tombstone tourist, the boy who builds little airplanes, the old man who got arrested for writing Nostradamus, the woman who's read telephone directories and many more. The film looks at quiz clubs across the country, each with their unique style and idiosyncrasies. It also explores the advent and development of quizzing in India.
About the filmmaker: Sarat Talluri Rao is a writer and director. A Masters in Quantitative Economics from the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta he began his work in films as a research intern on 'Sacred Numbers' a film by Dev Benegal on the life of the Indian mathematician Ramanujan.
He has written the story for the feature film 'Oonga' (2013). The film has gone to several International and National Film Festivals. It looks at the Naxal situation but through the eyes of an innocent 7 yr old boy.
He wrote and directed a short feature- 'The Fever' (2014) about a man whose shadow has fever.
The film screening will be followed by an interaction with the filmmaker.
