VOICE 4 Girls is an enterprising nonprofit that enables marginalized adolescent girls in India to take charge of their futures by imparting critical knowledge, spoken English, and life skills through activity-based camps. When a girl has knowledge and decision making power, she is proven to advocate for herself, seek educational opportunities, and pull herself, her family, and her community out of poverty. VOICE exposes girls to critical knowledge and makes them more independent by building communication, especially spoken English, and life skills. Local college students are trained to impart information and create safe and familiar camp spaces for girls. We also train campers to be peer leaders, or Sakhis, in their schools during the year. These Sakhis create support systems for their peers and deliver a modified camp curriculum. VOICE aims to provide the 72 million adolescent girls in India with the practical tools and knowledge needed to overcome the unique challenges they face.
