Sadaat Hasan Manto needs no introduction. Manto is one of the best story tellers that literature was ever blessed with. The macabre and irony in Manto's narratives, are timeless. Through his narratives, Manto immortalized the degradation of humanity in the face of communal tension. He showed us how humanity faltered and failed in the name of the greater 'God'. Our play is a series of three monologues, adapted from three of Manto's spine chilling short stories, namely, 'Khuda ki Kasam', 'Padhe Kalima' and 'Mozail'.This is not just another theater adaptation of Manto's literature. The world is moving towards another era of communal tension and the subsequent degradation of feelings, emotions, love, longing and everything that is beautiful, everything that is human. Our aim is to show where we are currently headed to, if we keep following the path of hatred that we are walking on right now. When 'Gods' become more important that humans, and history is witness to this, the outcome is not something desirable. We have chosen stories that show the diversity of human psyche in the face of communal violence. Stories that not only warn us about the impending doom, but also gives us hope and direction. On the 61st anniversary of Manto's death, we present to you an evening of Manto's mastery, 'Aaj ki Kahani, Manto ki Zubaani'.
