ON OCCASION OF CHHATRAPATI SHIVAJI MAHARAJ BIRTH ANNIVERSARY

DEMYSTIFYING CHHATRAPATI SHIVAJI MAHARAJ

The Liberator of the Indigenous Oppressed , Women, A friend of Indigenous Musalmans.

A Panel Discussion:To highlight the real Shivaji that he was. Brave, courageous, determined, invincible and radical not only on territorial battle fields but on the battle fields of religio-cultural chasm of 17th Century Maharashtra. This non-brahmin, non-kshatriya Indigenous King through his egalitarian rule always challenged the orthodoxy and was able to create a cultural, political milieu that sowed the seeds of a cultural revolution which later bloomed in the life of Rashtrapita Jyoti Rao Phule, Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in modern India and their struggles for Equality. Scope of the discussion: Women dignity , progress and Chhatrapati Shivaji. Chhatrapati Shivaji the friend and benefactor of Musalmans and Indigenous majority. Chhatrapati Shivaji’s Rule – the Kingdom of Equality for the Sons of the soil.

SCREENING OF & PANEL DISCUSSION ON THE DOCUMENTARY FILM

“STREE TU AZAAD KAHAN”

(Women ! Where Thou Art Free ???)

Script Writing and Direction Dr. Manisha Bangar Mr. Jeevan Gawande On 19th February 2016 @ 7. 30 pm Venue ---- LAMAKAAN , Banjara Hills , Hyderabad

This 45 minutes documentary film explores the deplorable status of Women in Indian society in all spheres – educational, cultural, vocational, political & family units irrespective of their religious background but definitely following a Varna based structural hierarchical level of degradation within the Gender cosmos. The film mostly containing interviews and related live footage's weaves a narrative which inspires the viewer to see through the Gender based oppression as being primarily structural and social, “Varna / Caste ideology based rather than conflict between two sexes particularly in the Indian context. It also motivates the viewer into questioning and challenging the oppression of women by Religio-cultural hegemonic class which has cleverly cloaked and justified this oppression under th garb of “Tradition, “”Supreme culture , “”Custom” or by glorifying it as divine sacrosanct and therefore infallible. That this political conspiracy of many thousand of years has resulted in women being thrown in a bottomless pit of superstition, poverty, ignorance, dependency and slavery even in the 21st millennium instigates the viewers to seek solutions to stop the inexorable descent of Woman and Mankind on the Indian soil and all over the world.

All are welcome.
