Urdu Literary Culture (Part 1) The Genesis and The Journey

The talk traces the origin of Urdu and explores the realm of ,what was,or is early Urdu. It also brings forth the myth and realities around the terms Urdu and Hindi, and, that the historical spaces occupied by Urdu and Hindi or Hindavi were not mutually exclusive but rather both are claimants to a single Linguistic and Literary tradition.

While going through the long and interesting journey of Urdu, what finally emerges is the role of literature in defining culture and change.
