Inviting all for an evening with Nagesh Kukunoor who will be the grand finale of Lamakaan's ten-day 6th Anniversary Celebrations.
In a talk aptly titled 'Adventures of a Genre Bender', India's pioneering indie filmmaker Nagesh will be sharing with us about what makes him make what he makes.
Mr. Kukunoor's exciting film career began in 1998 with the cross-cultural "Hyderabad Blues" that not only went on to become a cult film but launched the indie film scene in India. It was followed up with a coming-of-age dorm tale "Rockford". Then came a satire on the film industry, "Bollywood Calling", followed by a drama-thriller "3 Deewarein", and a sports underdog classic "Iqbal".
The multi-award winning filmmaker in 2006 made a moving feminist drama "Dor", and followed it up with a daring rom-com "Bombay to Bangkok", and then a thriller "8X10 Tasveer", followed by a surreal drama "Aashayein" and a romantic thriller "Mod"." Lakshmi", a film he dedicated for the cause he supports - fighting girl child trafficking and sexual slavery made an impact in several film festivals across the world creating awarenessfor the victims.
In 2014, Nagesh started 'The 'Lakshmi Initiative' with Prerana Anti-Human Trafficking Foundation, Mumbai, to raise funds to ensure that there is no second generation sexual slavery. It currently provides scholarships to 17 daughters of trafficked women.
His latest "Dhanak" - a feel-good magical road journey of a blind boy and his sister won the prestigious Grand Prix and the Special Mention Crystal Bear at the Berlin Film Festival and is currently being screened in festivals all around the world.
This is a great opportunity for to interact with this talented Writer-Director-Producer-Actor, and above all a fellow Hyderabadi!
