Welcome to the Second Focus Group Discussion on Gender, Identity & Media.

A Doctoral Researcher at the Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad, working in the area of Feminist Media Studies is organising 3 Focus Group Discussions. Her research is attempt to understand how one gets a sense of their gender, how one comes into feminism, and the kind of conversations that take place around gender, feminism/feminist ideas within families, amongst peer groups, and discussions generated by media content. Focus Group Discussions are the first step in this study process to understand the role media and peer groups play in informing/shaping/understanding their identities.

Sai Amulya Komarraju is a Doctoral Researcher at the Dept. Of Communication, UoH., whose research interests include Feminist Media Studies, New Media & Society, and Feminist Cultural Studies. She has previously worked as a Lecturer at the Dept. of Communication, St. Francis College for Women, Begumpet. She has also presented papers at the International Association for Media & Communication Research and worked as a research facilitator for ERC funded Connector's Study workshop for Children in Hyderabad.
