Music has the inherent ability to evoke a myriad of emotions and take the listener to unknown realms of life.

On the eve of World Music Day and just when the monsoon sets in, Sri Raga Music School offers a unique celebration with an evening dedicated to Carnatic Raaga Mohana.

Credited as one of the most exquisite pentatonic ragas, Mohana is predominantly known for devotion, love, sensitivity and beauty. Mohana at once fits into any emotional intensity and every genre ranging from Western Classical, Indian Classical, semi-classical, ghazal and film music.

Sri Raga Music School plans to unleash the nuances of Raaga Mohana by presenting a mélange of popular as well as rare compositions in this Raaga. Headed by Dr.Bala Donepudi, the programme would sure promise a lasting fervor of Mohana for the audience.

Smt. D. Bala Tripura Sundari hails from a music family got her initial training from her mother Smt.Donepudi Venkata Subbamma and later got advanced training under renowned music teacher H.M.Vaidyalingam Bhagavatar, son of legendary musician and composer Harisekanallur Muttaiah Bhagavatar. Her singing career began at a tender age of 15 from which she was consistently performing on stage along with her sister T.Lakshmi Murthy under the name Donepudi Sisters. This talented duo performed extensively in many townsacross Andhra Pradesh. They were awarded the prestigious A.P Sangeet Natak Academy award for theiroutstanding merit.  Smt.Bala is a popular AIR artiste and also performed in Doordarshan for various music related programmes.She is a graded composer for AIR and has the unique credit of bringing some of the almost obsolete and forgotten compositions of renowned composers such Annamacharya, Tumu Narasimha Dasu and so on. Since the guru is a direct disciple of Muttaiah Bhagavatar, she imbibed a special flair for the outstanding works of the maestro which led her compile an exclusive collection of his works and published it as a musical treatise. She also plans to throw light on some of the exquisite yet unsung glory of composers like Eesam Kuppusamy Ayya( Composer of Mohana Pada Varnam in Adi Tala), Turaga Venkata Ramaiah, Basavaraju Appa Rao and some other eminent lyricists. The institute propagates this worthy culture among its students to carry on this musical legacy for generations to come. It also emphasizes clear diction of Telugu language with sufficient rhetorical radiance. The linguistic nuances aesthetically blended with a soulful rendition is forte of this institution. The guru gives due importance for the realization and appreciation of musical potential at an individual level empowering each student with a fine sense of critical appreciation.
