On the occasion of National Science Day, Dr. Priya Hasan would be taking us through the Indian Space Program.
India is one of the very few countries with a successful space program. I shall explain why Space Astronomy is an essential mode of observations in Astronomy. I shall describe the Indian Space Program with special reference to satellites and missions for Astronomy, including Chandrayaan, Mangalyaan, Astrosat, Aditya, etc. Future plans of studies in the international context will also be discussed.
About The Speaker: Dr. Priya Hasan is an astrophysicist, and Assistant Professor of Physics at Maulana Azad National Urdu University. She runs Shristi Astronomy, a venture that aims to make science and math more appealing to young people through learner friendly workshops, discussions, and film screenings.
