Talking circles are processes of authentic, effective and respectful communication where the principles of equal voice, community responsibility, rotatory leadership and emotional integration are address.Each member of the circle irrespective of role,status, age experience is considered to be an integral part having a share of the whole truth without whose contribution the truth is incomplete, hence is given equal say and space in the circle process.

The circle process allows for each member to speak without interruption and gives opportunity for reflection and prevents haphazard airing of feelings as participants wait for their turn to receive the talking stick to communicate.The participant is also allowed to share silence with the group and respectfully pass the stick to the next member.

The circle can be used wherever there is a need to

Develop co operation and collaboration skills Achieve mutual understanding Make decisions together building consensus Repair, heal and build relationships. Plan future activities Develop agreements that bring resolution and closure.

Palliative physician, researcher, body therapist by training Sneha has spent a lot of time in Auroville where she learnt the principles of circle facilitation and has since facilitated many talking circles, gift circles and menstrual talk circles.having found home in Native practices she teaches propagates the model and uses the same in her workshops, study groups and hospital.
