About the Speaker:
Professor Hamida Bano/Nayeem joined the English Department at University of Kashmir in 1985. She has been teaching Novel and Drama (British and Continental). She was awarded Ph D degree in 1993. She is the author of Rhythms of Life: The Early Fiction of Margaret Drabble and Demystifying Ideology: Identity, Gender and Politics in Kashmir. She has also published several research papers in national and international journals and books. Besides she has been on the forefront of human rights activism with particular focus on Women’s rights. She is a founder member of Women Waging Peace, a Harvard University initiative. She guides research on British and Postcolonial fiction. Her academic interests include feminism and critical theories.
