Kathak is one of the most vibrant classical dance forms of India known for its mesmerizing rhythmic footwork and graceful story-telling. Raveena Singh, a proponent of the art form, will present a vibrant and varied demonstration of its nuances. The evening will unfold with a Prayer: an offering to Lord Krishna,followed by Nritta: acute synchronization between rhythm and time, with dance movements, Shiva Tandava Stotram: Sanskrit Hymn of praise sung by Ravana in admiration of Lord Shiva, Sufi: a blend of delicate Kathak movements to sufi music and Tarana.

Raveena Singh is a seasoned kathak artist trained in the art form for over 18 years under the guidance of her Guru, Sri Ram Kumar. Guru Ram Kumar is a Kathak exponent who has dedicated over 50 years of his life to his art. Several artists have bloomed under his tutelage including famous Bollywood actress Ayesha Jhulka.
Raveena intends to take his artistic lineage forward by spreading the knowledge and nuances of her predominantly northern Indian art form to other parts of the country. Having delivered many performances in Kathak and other dance forms over the years, she is currently looking to expand the reach of Kathak as an audience oriented dance form. She has performed at the prestigious India International Centre in Delhi and is also a kathak artist in the successful musical: Mughal-e-Azam at the National Center for Performing Arts, Mumbai
