The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) has made a third detection of gravitational waves, ripples in space and time, from the merger of two massive black holes that happened three billion light years away. This opens a new window of astronomy, Gravitational Wave Astronomy. We shall discuss the science of detection and the future implication of this new dynamic area of research.
