What role does gender play in public space? Do women have right to public space or is it just a space that they are allowed conditional access to? Is there a way to re-imagine and reclaim the city as a place of equality for all genders and sexuality, normative or otherwise?

Mera Apna Sheher (My Own City), dir Sameera Jain follows two women drivers driving around the city and a unnamed woman occupying different public spaces without any apparent marker of purpose. The reactions range from he reactions range from curiosity to lechery to sheer hostility.

This screening is aimed at starting a collectively discussion about the politics of gender and public space.
