Irani cafes and their chai, biscuits and snacks have served Hyderabad for decades. Names such as Garden, Grand (hotel), Olympia, etc evoke nostalgia among many Hyderabadis, who have spent hours in discussion while sipping away cups of Irani chai. One could say that it is a way of life for us.

But many might not know that Irani chai is not what Iranians drink in Iran (tea is consumed sans milk there), but because the cafes are run by Iranian owners whose families have settled in the city (and in other places like Mumbai and Pune) decades ago. So who are these owners exactly? If you have always wondered and would like to know, come join us for an interactive session with owners of some of the oldest Irani cafes in town. The speakers/guests include Mr. Mohammed Jaleel Farookh Rooz, the owner of Grand hotel, started in 1935 and believed to be Hyderabad’s oldest surviving Irani outlet and other Irani Hotels Proprietors.

ENTRY IS FREE & OPEN TO ALL!!
