Topic: Understanding Electoral Rolls and Voter Registration

The Election Commission of India has launched the National Electoral Rolls Purification and Authentication Programme in 2015 to streamline electoral rolls by detecting anomalies. Further, the commission has been working with various state governments to improve the voter lists. With the Telangana elections being held in the upcoming months, the commission has announced a special summary revision of the electoral rolls. At the national level, there are petitions in the Supreme Court demanding the election commission to publish electoral data in text formats instead of scanned pdf.

The elections to the Telangana Assembly are due in the next few months. The Election Commission of India is also in the process of finalising the electoral roll for these elections.

The session will discuss this entire process and help people understand what an electoral roll means, how to get enrolled or get anomalies corrected if your name does not figure in the roll.
