About the play:
An extraordinary novel revolt has just happened in the city! It was spontaneous, there was no leader! It was led by common women as inflation spirals and leaves them desperate!
The play explores the hilarious outcomes of the event in the households of two simple middle-class wives –Lakshmi and Lalita.
As they try to conceal their little secret from their husbands, it spirals into new, unexpected, comical and outrageous situations with the police on their trail.
Underlying all the laughter and comedy, Italian playright Dario Fo explores deeper questions of how real change can come about – when common people decide ‘enough is enough’ and come on to the streets.
Ultimately, you ask ‘Who are the real culprits?’ Is it ‘They’ or …?

Bhoomika Theater Group was founded in 1988 by Udayabhanu Garikipati. Bhoomika believes that “more than entertainment, theatre illuminates, moves,
disquiets, disturbs, lifts the spirit, reveals,
provokes and violates conventions It has performed several classic plays in Telugu and Hindi all over India, apart from several adaptations of popular plays from different languages. Bhoomika also received the three Nandi Awards for Charanadasu, a Telugu adaptation of Habib Tanveer’s 'Charanadas Chor' produced in 1996. Other popular productions Girish Karnad’s Nagamandala, Bertolt Brecht’s Insaan Ho Tho Leek Se Hato (Exception and The Rule), Manoj Mithra’s Raj Darshan and Badal Sircar’s Hattamla ke Us paar, Emo Gurram Egara Occhu, Chal Chal Gurram. Recent production, Baribattala Raju, ran over 10 successful shows.
Bhoomika conducts actor training workshops and story telling events for children.
