Dr. Balagopal (1952-2009) was a mathematician, a civil rights leader, a lawyer, a prolific writer, a powerful speaker, and thinker, who threw light on many issues facing our times. The documentary The Man, The Movement and The Moral Compass provides a glimpse of Dr. Balagopal's life – his extraordinary personality, his influence on social movements, and their influence on him, and the inspiration he continues to be to so many. The film was mostly put together 13 years ago, after Dr. Balagopal passed away, from footage that was shot 20 years ago. It is about 35 min long and traces his life from childhood, to his teaching days in Warangal, to becoming an activist and a civil rights lawyer. The screening will be followed by a discussion on how to engage young people in human rights activism.

All are welcome! Entry is free and open to all!!
