'Le Mashale…" is the soliloquy in which Irom Sharmila narrates the anguish and aspiration of Manipur through its fables, dances and major incidences which transformed her life. The play talks about brutality unleashed on known and unknown Manoramas in the valley and the protest by determined women who do not mind their nudity over their struggle for justice. The play puts forth many questions raised by torch bearing women from the valley.

Le Mashale…

Manipur: a heavenly land belonging to various ethnic communities; a land with rich culture and history and also a land of unrest; a land under the brutal control of the Indian military forces; a land which struggles for its own identity and democratic right to self determination. Manipur- a land adorned by strong women who bear torch…

Irom Sharmila Chanu- a daughter of this land- is one such woman. A poet and activist who by her dedication and self realization has become a living legend. This is her 10th year of hunger strike against exploitation of her and people by not just Indian army violence but also by mainland centric Indian politics. A physically frail but very strong in her dedication she has become an inspiration for the valley and non violent struggles all over. Her body is her weapon – and this realization has made her a milestone. As eminent writer Mahashweta Devi expresses- "the 21st century should be known by the dedication and struggle of Irom Sharmila."
