Prisoners of Conscience

Anand Patwardhan’s documentary film ‘Prisoners of Conscience’ provides a vivid account of the State of Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi from June 1975 to March 1977. During the Emergency the media was muzzled, over 100,000 people were arrested without charge and imprisoned without trial. Now there is no declaration of emergency in India and yet we are witnessing that number of Prisoners of Conscience continue to grow in this undeclared emergency as well. We invite one and all to attend this important screening and discussion to express solidarity with all the prisoners of conscience.
