The book uses Urdu poetry to describe the changing secular landscape in India. It delves into the historical events that threatened communal harmony, from partition, or electoral politics, to communal riots, in Mumbai, Gujarat and so on, to the present moment, to recent events around Ayodhya, cow slaughter and ‘love jihad’.
