Anand, the publisher at Navayana, has been singing and translating Kabir’s sung-and-heard poetry for a decade now. The Notebook of Kabir: Thinner than Water, Fiercer than Fire is a selection of fifty Kabir songs, in the original and translation, interspersed with commentary and essays. Anand turned to Kabir after years of immersing himself in the ideas of Babasaheb Ambedkar and several anticaste thinkers. He soon found Kabir leading him to the Buddha. Anand first met Kabir in Hyderabad during his school days. He returns now to the city to present Kabir in a new light.

At Lamakaan, Anand will perform Kabir with a tanpura. He will also be in dialogue with Mohd Abdul Nayeem, an academic and connoisseur of poetry and music, Professor V. Thirupathaiah of Warangal, a renowned music teacher, and Anand’s first guru.
