'Special Indeed' is a play about an autistic individual and his recollection of the most significant experiences from his childhood/school-life that motivate him to outgrow the problem to a certain extent. Of course, he has obvious traces of autism even in his adult life, but he has now learnt to channelise whatever is in his power into something productive. The childhood experiences he now recollects are not exactly bright or positive, but they eventually turn out to be, because without them, he would have never developed the will to fight his condition. Brief flashes of those life-changing events in between his monologue as an adult will give the audience an understanding of how special the special children really are. The whole world is always wishing they were normal, but the protagonist of our play always wonders: 'What is normal? Isn't normal subjective to situations and people?'
In Nov 2013 Kadak Chaai brought together an incredible group of individuals who were hungry for the knowledge and experience of Theatre. Over the weekends of a couple of months, this group conceived and beautifully nurtured and raised a simple idea into a special one-act play.
