Mythili is a researcher and practitioner of Indian dance and works as Associate Professor at GITAM (deemed-to-be) University. She also runs an organization named Alai/Lehar in Hyderabad to promote the arts. She has won national awards for her contributions to the field of dance, has evolved her own independent repertoire, has publications in dance studies and is a reviewer for research articles in major international journals of dance studies. She is a guest faculty at design schools such as the NID's for liberal arts courses and has created dance films premiered in platforms such as Erasing Borders Festival by IAAC and narthaki.com. She holds a PhD from IIT Bombay in the Semiotics of Mohiniyattam, and was also a Tagore National Scholar.
