Youth uprising in Nepal: Implications for India

The historic Gen Z youth uprising in Nepal on 8-9 September has led to the collapse of the authoritarian capitalist regime of KP Sharma Oli. Subsequently an interim government has been formed. However, the future of the Himalayan nation remains uncertain. Despite the regime change, there are no signs of any systemic change in the offing. Several conspiracy theories are being peddled to explain this explosive uprising in our neighbouring country. Against this backdrop of chaos and confusion, there is a need to understand the actual reasons behind this unprecedented youth uprising in Nepal. Also, a discussion on the future possibilities in that country is the need of the hour. The question also arises as to what are the implications of this uprising for Indian ruling elites and the Indian people. It is on these questions that we plan to hold a discussion this time.
